THOUGHT LEADERSHIP: FREE FIXED BROADBAND SHOULD BE PROVIDED TO US

Greetings,

We believe that free fixed broadband should be provided especially to the small companies as a means to help them meet the needs and navigate these tough times.

Furthermore, we think that a broadband connection should be free since we live in a world where we are all connected and need to continue being so in order to continue learning, working, helping others, etc. Plus being connected is now an emergency since we need to get to the necessary support, guidance, and so on. We have to follow up now more than ever. This is perfectly clear.

So the governments should start there: providing free fixed broadband to the small and maybe even medium-sized companies, to begin with. And they should also provide money and solutions on how companies can have cash flow now in the meantime. This is nothing to sleep on, there is no other solution and the more the governments wait, the worst the situation will become and they will end up having to pay billions and billions of dollars which will result in an economic crash. Which will also result in less trust from the people and further problems. So the sooner the solutions are brought to the table and carried out, the better it will be for absolutely everybody.

Entrepreneurs: This is your opportunity! Step up!

Regarding the job market, companies should be more open-minded towards remote work, and in bridging the gaps by creating junior positions and providing further training. The mindset has to change.

Recruitment should not be based on CV scanning where keywords and active verbs take the upper arm. These things are there to facilitate the amount of work but they say NOTHING about the capacity, nor the passion, nor the talent the person has. This is something that should be immediately taken out of the picture since it is biased and does not meet the needs that we have today. We need a healthy culture in the world that will help us thrive forward.

Remote work in Europe and especially in The Nordics should get a boost! Sooner than later. One solution would be part-time remote jobs, remote projects, etc. If we could all have part-time jobs and projects it could be a solution if companies cannot offer full-time jobs. So a part-time job, plus projects, plus free fixed broadband, plus money. And this monetary compensation is because people have families and need to provide for them so maybe part-time jobs are not enough for everybody. We all have different needs and responsibilities.

Companies and projects that have the solutions that we need should be prioritized. So projects that have been held because of whatever reason should be taken into consideration. Now is the time when we need to take action and make it happen.

We propose that priority lists are made, then that the funding is provided, a strategic plan is created, support and education are provided. Just do it! Get it done today, get it done now. And this is for the sake of everybody.

One thing that we see is that maybe the companies will eventually change their systems of renting their software applications since people do not have money to pay for monthly installments but they need the tools. This is something to think about. We will need tools we can use without us having to pay.

It is also clear that money is something that will change and it is not very clear how yet. It will change for sure. It is a given.

Communities should be more active in building opportunities so people can make money in the meantime and continue to grow. While the governments continue to talk and discuss, we need support and must take steps. The fastest solution is via the communities while we wait for the official solutions to take place, hopefully very fast.

Systems that do not work should be changed, the faster the better.

Another thing that should change is that people need to have more awareness. We have a situation and the solution is not “denial”, nor putting things aside, nor prolonging. There is too much talk.

So let’s think positively and be more active.
